Autumn the best season of the year has arrived, well in my eyes anyhow…

However we are not mentioning the 'B' word! At the time of going to print the nation is still a little unsure if it will or won’t happen so instead we are happy to mention the 'B' for Blundells instead!

September saw 'B' for bonkers with some incredible bidding in the room. Most notable was a semi detached house in Sheffield with large garden, bids started at £100,000 and after 3 or 4 super keen bidders battled it out the hammer fell at an astounding £221,000. The auction raised over 1.5million in sales in around an hour so 'B' for a buoyant auction room feels quite appropriate here. 

September also allowed me a unique opportunity to stand with paintbrush in hand side by side one of Sheffield legends! I successfully bid on an auction lot earlier in the year with Museum Sheffield and joined a group of other successful bidders to join the one and only Joe Scarborough in a painting masterclass. We had a wonderful day creating our own 'masterpieces' and Joe was an excellent teacher showing us all his method, skill and flair and guiding us all to complete wonderful oil paintings. Joe is currently exhibiting at Weston Park Museum with his ‘Life in the Big Village’ which has drawn together over 60 of his paintings and drawings for the first major retrospective in over 25 years. His affectionate, often humorous, depictions of everyday scenes of Yorkshire life pay tribute to the region and the spirit of its people. Whether glimpses into bygone eras or celebrations of landmarks across Sheffield and beyond, his bold, joyful paintings have become instantly recognisable. The exhibition closes on 24th November and I urge everyone to go and view one of Sheffield's best-loved artists' works -

The penultimate auction of the year presents a superb mix of lots yet again. We can suit all pockets, all types and all projects. For those looking for a rather splendid development we have 13 West Lawn in Ashbrooke a much sought after location with lovely views over the cricket lawns.
